Yup, mythtv setup issue. Your post prompted me to go through settings on my diskless FE in the living room and the new ATV that's going in the bedroom with a fine toothed comb. In the general settings I found that on the ATV I had selected both AC3 Passthrough and DTS Passthrough. On the diskless FE I only had AC3 Passthrough selected. I changed ATV to match that and bingo, sound on the other files now too. Don't know if that means that those files had a DTS track that my receiver wasn't able to handle, or that they were the only ones with AC3 passhtrough enabled and that it doesn't work if you also select DTS Passthrough...but since it works, i'm not that worried about it for now.
