Thanks Scott, The problem I have is that I don't have an original image. This comes from my not really knowing what I was doing when I first got my ATV and being a hack of a hacker to get MythTV on the box. I have gone through the "Oops" restore method you have written up but this has caused the language lock issue for me.
It has been confusing for me since that I actually get the loading of ATV (V2.4) all the way to the language it would seem that the restore is working. Yet if I try to run the Patchstick I get an error on mounting OSBoot (I have used your checks in other areas and don't seem to find the issue). Something isn't right but I don't quite know what. Perhaps the real restore does not get copied over until after the language, and other settings past language, are completed. It is interesting to parse the "download contents" file that you provide and see that there is a IR Update Tool installer and update URL.
