Hi

I'm in favor of switching to transifex. I'm also translating VLC Media Player
to Dutch, and at the moment, they already have a possibility to work with
Transifex. It would be nice to have translations updated by the source files
automatically, without having to check the site every now and then.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but wouldn't it be easier to fetch the
translations at the moment of a new release, or every week for example?

This is indeed something to take in account. In VLC also, most of the header
data is erased. Transifex adds the "latest translator" field though, and also
adds the years of activity of every translator (using the full name if you
added it in your Transifex account).
Non-used translations are erased by transifex, unlike with PoEdit, so if an
older string becomes used again, you'll have to translate it again. On the
other side, Transifex supports auto translation... but I'm not sure how this
works with older, already translated strings.

I'm not sure which OS can't use TX client?

I hope someone of the developers/maintainers can take this to the next level ;)
