Screenshots are easier to do than copy/paste. Why should people have to select text, copy it, and then paste it? It's a three step process whereas screenshots take a button or button combination and it's easier to send over certain media. You could argue that it's mostly a visual thing where a picture captures it all instead of copying the entirety of the text (an entire Facebook status, when it was posted, and the nunmber of reactions, for example).
