yes, the controls are exactly the same
i tried to play re 4, with all my heart, but it was not posible.
some years ago i tried to play re 5, and that one was easier. i reached chapter 4 with a crapload of patience, but.... the game is also umnplayable. i did it because i wanted to advance, but people...... walking 80 minutes to find a door.... don't know the english _expression_ for this, but i'll say.... i had lots of time in my hands indeed....
