Re: Xbox One for non-gaming: worth it?

heh, I have no experiences with such devices, so may be this will be totally ot, but one of guys from our community has purchased Nvidia shield some time ago, and its functionality seems very similar to what you're describing:

It's equipped with modern Android, so you can use keyboards, joysticks, controllers or whatever control device you want.
Also because of Android, accessibility should be quite decent as well. Either with Talkback or Commentary screen reader, these things are very well served for keyboard today.
From the official description, gaming shouldn't be problem too, although I'm not sure how many audiogames playable with joystick for us are there on Android, but there should be some.
Direct availability of Netflix could be pleasant as well if you like watching films, together with a full palette of Android apps, I can imagine this being a great media center, which you're describing.
And lastly, it's Android, with all its customability, so if you don't like something and can't for some reason find an appropriate app, you can still grab VisualStudio & Xamarin and make it yourself.
As a bonus, when you learn to code for this stuff, you will learn coding for mobile devices as well. Or at least if you use Android of course.
Yeah, and Nvidia is a known name on field of graphic cards, so I guess this part could work as well. But don't ask me if it does, i really don't know.
As I said before, I don't work with this kind of devices, so i can't tell if Xbox one will do the job or either if Nvidia shield will.
I don't own it, and the guy who was purchasing it didn't leave us a review, so I don't know even if it is accessible, although I don't see any reason why it couldn't be.
I just thought it could be worth considering, along with other possible devices in this category, which I have never heard about.
