Re: Xbox One for non-gaming: worth it?
Whew. Thanks, folks. I was so close to clicking that "Buy now with one click" button and spending part of my long weekend setting up my Xbox.
I'll pass on the Apple TV for now. I'm an Android developer, and while I do want to take a stab at iOS one of these days, I'd rather my handful of Apple devices not include something as integral to me as my media hub. Maybe a watch or an iPad Mini, but not a hub.
I checked out the Fire Stick. @6, why don't you recommend that? I was actually considering replacing my TV with an HDMI monitor so I'd have one fewer interface to set up, and while a completely accessible TV might work, I'd rather get the stick or box. Is the accessibility inferior? Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I just feel weird about buying a whole appliance, other than a phone, so thoroughly embedded in someone's ecosystem.
@3: The Shield looks great, but an accessibility review I found claims that Netflix and Amazon Prime are inaccessible. These are my two paid services, so that disinclines me from purchasing it. Do you know who has one? Wondering if the accessibility of Netflix or Prime may have changed since that review (December). Haven't been able to find that out. I'd probably get a Shield if those issues were resolved.
