This is a heck of a mess.
Charlie, as far as I'm concerned, your main mistake wasn't that you had a beta team, and it wasn't that your beta team was largely not helpful to you. Those things, in and of themselves, aren't your fault. The thing you need to learn from - and right away, if you want to keep developing - is that you don't stick to a release if it's not ready.
This game clearly wasn't ready. The only person who had the ability to release the game is you. Therefore, that's on you. If your testing process was inadequate - and clearly it was - then it's on you for rushing the game out anyway. You should have waited, maybe gotten some new/better testers while kicking the old ones, and fixed the issues you had. I really hope you learn from this and stop trying to pass the buck.
