Retro Arch on Raspberry Pi

Hello everyone.
I had some questions about running Retro Arge on a Raspberry Pi. I have one, so I figured why not give it a shot? Is it worth the undertaking? Is it accessible? If I know where to get the roms, can I just get them straight through the Pi or do I have to download them and put them on my SD card? Do you have game recommendations? I know NVDA wouldn’t really work on there to OCR things, so that’s why I was wondering if it was worth it. I wanted to have a game console that I could hook up to my TV, but I don’t quite have the money to afford one, so I figured I would do something with my Raspberry Pi instead. I’m not too familiar with the whole thing; I only heard that it’s possible to install Arch on the Pi, but I don’t know how it actually works. Any recommendations are appreciated.
