Ds games save right to the cartridge so you dont have to worry about buying a memory card or managing save data. All of the games I own have some kind of save feature and I have over a dozen.
Forgot to mention that download play and multi-player is pretty doable also as I used to utilize it a lot without help for transferring pokemon between games.
