Re: My costumed vigilante's hero card
I think, while Superman can get away with a no killing code, Batman has the misfortune of sending the Joker to a cardboard prison every other Thursday, but has admitted that he's psychologically incapable of letting him die, let alone killing him. In the "Under the Red Hood" story, when a certain character calls him out on this, Batman says he can't precisely because it would be too easy - that, if he does it once, there'd be no turning back, because he knows exactly how broken he is emotionally.
In the prelude to Final Crisis, Wonder Woman's lasso of truth caught a villain, and he told her the only way to stop him was killing him. So she did, and Batman did not take it well.
The storyline behind the Injustice: Gods Among Us game appears to revolve around a universe in which the Joker finally pushed Superman to the breaking point. Much as Batman is afraid he'd become a serial killer if he slipped once, that Superman slipped once and de
cided to make himself god-emperor of humanity.
These guys ... ur... really need to plant some grass on those slippery slopes.
(The universe with EMPEROR Superman is explicitly an alternate universe, I think? I don't actually have the game, because the past year has been lawful evil.)
