As for my being able to tell the difference between transports, I can't say categorically that I can. I believe I heard a difference between my CD changer and the SB2 when I initially tested it. Who knows? Maybe I imagined it. However, I've since discovered that you can bypass volume control on the digital output. Actually, I learned about that in this thread.
