I took up the advise given in this forum about directly feeding a SB2 into amps. The SB2 is feeding a pair of Nuforces Ref 9 which drive Apogee Duetta's. When the amps are muted there is very noticable hiss. When playing music the sound is really distorted (no real bas nor mids). When replaced by a simple ten year old Onkyo Cd player with analog volume control there was no hiss nor distorted sound. Also when I would play with the SB2 and put the volume at 40, it didn't really play loud (I guess around 85 db, sorry no meter) although there was a small improvement in soundquality. Are my expectations too high for this device and should this be accepted as normal or does this indicate a synergy problem? (I use firmware 15 with 6.2 software version and play wav to wav files)
