powersupply. The original one is a switching powersupply. These are two
different techniques to convert the 110V AC (220V here) to 5V DC. The
switching powersupply is a more effecient design than the linear type.
The problems with switching powersupplies are that they introduce
highfrequency noise into the curcuits that they power. And the
audiophiles say that you can hear it, and that you should go for a
linear PSU to get better sound.
