Done some research into this and have come up with the following linear PSU which has very low ripple and provides over voltage protection.

This is not plug 'n play as it will need a suitable enclosure (preferably metal to provide sheilding) and input/output leads. The latter must be fairly thick as we are only talking of 5v, so thin gauge wire may produce a voltage drop. My SB3 uses a Audio Synthesis DAX Discrete as a DAC and then onward into other high end stuff.
