Lots of right things have been said here. Never saw this Carver product but I can recommend the following (customer of all, no other affiliation) when you are looking for good sound.
. CARA accoustic if you have the patience. Excellent, cheap acoustics CAD software to model your room & calculate reflections/response. Can help hugely in speaker placement though and root treatement devices. . Q-Sound: interesting concept on couple-CDs. They basically played with phase to generate very deep soundstage (Waters/Amused to Death, fantastic music in its own right). First time I experienced a clock ticking to the exact left of my head about 10 feet out. Yes, with two speakers 10 feet front of me. . TacT: that something if you have money to burn. The problem with speaker placement is that you trade-off high-freq accuracy (far from wall) to bass problems (bounces off wall and distorts so LFEs should be in the corners). An approach is to FFT the signal to make up for room modes, takes 2 high-end DSPs per channel and close to a fortune. New TacT gear is also a crossover so your drivers are in corners and your mid/high-range far from walls. I use the older one and the difference is unbelievable albeit it takes a while to get it right. Anyway, the prices will make you choke unless you're an audiophile with a small car and a big rig ;-) -- prz ------------------------------------------------------------------------ prz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2826 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=18878 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
