Latency between the input receiver and chip? I know the USB data contains no clock info, but your comments are a little over my head. If Gordon Rankin were here he would say: "The S/PDIF environment is more prone to unwanted variations in the frequency of the incoming word-clock signal, which the converter is always trying to track.
