Ian You just have to try both ways and see which you prefer. I hope that the 2 channel processing in the AVR250 is better than the AVR200 though. I used to have an AVR200 and thought the internal decoding of digital stereo was very poor, a 15 year old Meridian Bitstream DAC improved the system by a quantum leap.
Anyway try them both out and stick with what you prefer.
