Yes, it does. And if your drive caches it automatically checks the box, sort of guessing that you want it to rip 'faster' rather than 'better'. If your drive is caching data, EAC doesn't read your disc, it reads your generic drive's cache-- thus making a comparison between what's on the disc and what's in EAC impossible--> defeating the whole blooming purpose of EAC. I'm saying you should manually UNCHECK the box, which will make your rips longer, but more accurate. It is detailed on HydroAudio, as Mark said, I'm sure.
