The difference here is that I already know what I want, a subwoofer, but the OP asked for very broad recommendations. It's hard to suggest one particular type of component. We don't really know what he "needs". I'm continually trying to improve my system, so spending $1000 for me would likely yield results either now or down the road. To the OP, I don't think you can get speakers for $1000 that are much better than your Monitor 9's. My only suggestion, if you "need" to spend $1000, is to get an outboard amp, assuming your receiver has pre-amp outputs. That's likely to yield the biggest change, in terms of sound. The amp that comes to mind is the Parasound A23 (125 W/ch), which is $850 on www.audioadvisor/com. (Full disclosure: that's what I want to buy). As for DAC's, Benchmark and Lavry appear to be the best available for under $1000. And yes, I'm eventually going to get one of those, leaning toward Lavry Black. -- ezkcdude ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ezkcdude's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2545 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=20198 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
