There's no argument that FLAC and MP3 will sound *different*, and then it's a matter of personal preference which you think sounds better. For sure, FLAC will be closer to the original (ie. identical), but you might happen to like the particular inaccuracies introduced by MP3 encoding, just like some people enjoy the inaccuracies introduced by vinyl playback. There's nothing wrong with preferring something that's less accurate.
