In theory any lossless format should sound the same.

In practice, for some unknown reason, a couple of people -me included-
have reported to hear a fairly dramatic improvement in sound quality if
FLAC is unpacked on the server side (so the SB receives WAV).

Why that would be is unanswered. Also, if the effect exists, it is
possible it is software version dependent. BTW, someone earlier
reported a sucessful blind test for identifying FLAC vs. WAV.
