Not so sure about that. WAV is a computer data file format. Yes, it
does contain PCM data but the key word there is 'contain'. As far as I
know, the data that gets passed to the DAC or the digital conenction is
in PCM format.

I would agree that FLAC undergoes slightly more processing in that it
has to be decompressed, but in my eyes ordinary WAV files still need to
be "processed". 

At the end of the day, lossless is lossless, no matter what the 
format.
