Not so sure about that. WAV is a computer data file format. Yes, it does contain PCM data but the key word there is 'contain'. As far as I know, the data that gets passed to the DAC or the digital conenction is in PCM format. I would agree that FLAC undergoes slightly more processing in that it has to be decompressed, but in my eyes ordinary WAV files still need to be "processed".
