I was just going to post a reply in the power supply thread. Then I read about the hulabaloo and that a new post would get me banned. So is there some place I can safely post the following? * * * I don't know if changing the power supply will make a difference, but I figure it will be easy and fun to find out! I bought a hb5-3/ovp-a off of ebay (that surplus company sold out of the really cheap ones). Here's my plan: - 2 SqueezeBox 3's - one with the stock supply, one with the hb5-3/ovp-a. - Playing in sync and set to the same volume level, using the analog outputs with the stock RCA cables. - Plugged into the two "VCR" inputs in my Denon receiver. (As opposed to CD and VDP, so I can be confident the receiver isn't treating them differently.) - My first test track will be Phil Collins' "Something in the Air Tonight". I have fond memories of testing my stereo and seeing the lights in my house dim when the drums kick in halfway through, the amp was soaking up so much power. Incidentally, this is why I can accept the possibility that the power supply could make a difference for the analog outputs of the SqueezeBox. With one person switching sources on the receiver between Video 1 & Video 2, and one person listening, I figure it will make for a fair, blind test.
