The concept is to avoid nasty baffle diffractions by approaching a hemispherical front face, and to have a tapered internal shape for stiffness and avoidance of internal reflections. And to look different. When my active crossover is built they will cross to the 10" drivers at around 120Hz to fill in the bottom end.
