Tinnitus comes in all shapes/sizes/tones.... Typically it is your
brain's way of substituting tone for something that 'should' be there.
We still have a long ways to go to really understand the problem
though. Giving caffeinne up is a good start. Other things that can
cause tinnitus are: 
*Pesky wax 
*quinine (cut out that tonic water... unless it is with Gin of course)
* Ibuprofin

Mainly, don't panic about it. If you can't sleep at night because you
are obsessing about the tinnitus, try rigging up something to generate
some form of quiet white noise. That really helps.
