The latest version of the infant slimserver plugin (6.2.2) serves Apple lossless (that's how I'm using it). There's one bug with this version: accented characters in artist and track names display incorrectly on the squeezebox. We are promised a fix in the next version. FWIW, I have iTunes pointing at the music folder on the NAS box, rather than locally.
