Well, part of the problem may be that you are trying to get CDs to sound like vinyl! That's going to be hard...
There's not much you can do differently at the ripping end: all lossless rips should sound the same. There is some discussion about using EAC for more accurate rips than iTunes can do, but I doubt that a few missed bits would change the tone of the music (more likely to insert an odd crackle). One thing you might wnt to consider which several people on this forum swear by is to try a linear PSU for the SB. I've not tried it myself, but search the forum for threads on this topic and you'll find a lot of comments. After that it's about conditioning the power supply, putting in better cables, or buying an "improved" SB from a modder. Or putting your $$ down for a Transporter, perhaps!! But, of course, if its the basic CD sound that you don't like then all of this may be for nothing....
