I'm not saying they never work -- of course not. I am saying that there is a lot of hype and that many people get a case of "audiophilia nervosa" and feel this need to attempt to squeeze every last bit of performance out of their rig...regardless of price or reasonability. Said modder goes on about Bybee filters. I have yet to meet a level-headed, informed, objective audiophile who takes these things serious -- anymore than they take "intelligent chips" and Tice clocks seriosly.
Then again, the power of suggestion, like I said, is very powerful. People can be lead, and can lead themselves, to believe many things. So, again: yes, I absolutely think you can take a stock item, modify it and improve it. Absolutely. I just think the cottage industry is rather silly and that the post shows up its absurdity (a retailer essentially "reviewing" and denigrating a product...because, of course, he has an agenda. Now, THAT'S objective!) PS, "uptight and sad" -- I wasn't looking to get flamed here and this sort of language 1) isn't polite and 2) doesn't belong on the forum. atkinsonrr;141322 Wrote: > Is Mr. High saying that mods never work? In a larger room, I would move back to larger speakers, subs, and probably RCS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ highdudgeon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2195 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28080 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
