Ahem. I didn't flame anyone and did not, in turn, deserve rude treatment.
If you buy and like the stuff, well, that's fine. I'm not stopping you. People and like all kinds of things. In studies, half of chronically depressed patients respond to placebos equally well as those treated with anti-depressants. Does it make the recovery less real? No. A Bybee filter is a placebo. Prove otherwise, with hard numbers and engineering details, other than with comments that the music is more "airey" or whatever. I might work for you. This is a hobby. If you enjoy it, that is fine -- and I do not begrudge people making a living. However, I have enough years of audio and physics experience to remain fairly objective about these things. Peace, and let's not let this turn into some kind of flame war, okay? We have divergent views. That's fine. There is no reason to take it personally. Incidentally, because I've had a Squeezebox for a long time, I have heard all versions of the firmware. The latest version is, by far, the most sophisticated, especially in terms of volume control and file compression. Believe what you will, though. zybar;141352 Wrote: > Have you actually heard any of Wayne's mods to tbe SB2 or SB3? > > I own many products that Wayne has modified (including two SB2's) and I > have compared his handiwork to stock SB2's as well as other digital > front ends costing as much as $10k. > > I still feel that the modified SB2 + external PS is the best digital > front end I have owned or auditioned. > > As for the firmware, it is v15 and it does sound better than subsequent > versions. Simple and satisfying. In a larger room, I would move back to larger speakers, subs, and probably RCS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ highdudgeon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2195 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28080 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
