Seems I forgot to write the most important part: Measurements at the listening position. Reliable, repeatable and representative of what humans hear. It is probably beyond most peoples reach. If it was easy we would have proof for or against sound variations due to various popular so-called tweaks (contact cleaning, for example). As it is, it seems that whenever something is to be measured we rip that component out of our hifi system, and put it on a test bench. Hardly realistic conditions. A reasonable substitute to sound at listening position is electrical signal at the speaker terminals. BTW, for the record, I don't believe there are any "magical" parameters that can be tweaked to make an SB or Transporter better. I'm sure the Transporter is excellent. I'm not quite sure who you accuse of being a fool for soldering in your design? Sounds pretty weird to accuse anyone who have bought your stuff for doing anything they like to it.
