Well, I don't disagree entirely, but the fact is we have laws in the
States which forbid false advertising, even when the products involved
are not dangerous to people's health.  Manufacturers of things like
anti-ageing cream that make particularly outrageous claims get put out
of business by the FTC.

I'm not sure what claims you're referring to.  I have a custom built
amplifier from Odyssey Audio which is heavily "modded" in the sense
that it differs significantly from the base model.  Apart from that my
audio system consists of an SB3 (I prefer the analogue outs to any DAC
I've tried so far) and speakers.  I toyed with the idea of having the
SB3 modded, but $500 is far to much to spend on an experiment which
could easily degrade the sound - I'd much rather spend it on music.
