They own the home, but the living room isn't on ground floor; and they
aren't too keen on do more major carpentry (just finished refurbishing
the whole home).

The power cables are placed in interal tubes in the wall, but I don't
think placing speaker cables and power cables in parallell are any good
idea. I don't know how long the cable has to be either...
