OK, here is my understanding of the situation: Technically, the performance of the transporter alone should be superior to a transport driving the transporter, as the extra step will most likely add jitter.
The transporter can act as a two channel DAC, so, if you setup your dvd player to output linear PCM from its digital output, then the transporter will be able to play back any cd's and dvd's as two channel stereo. If you have a seperate n-channel decoder for surround sound, then there are two possibilities. 1. connect one digital output from dvd player to transporter, connect the other from dvd player to decoder. 2. connect things digtally in a chain dvd->transporter->decoder. In that case, I am unsure as to whether the transporter will pass through the digital signal unmodifies, but I'm assuming it should do. -- bludragon ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bludragon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1530 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=28533 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
