Well, I think that whole argument, "its the amp, its the speakers, you need 250 watts" etc. is way, way off the mark. There are as many approaches to hifi as there are people passionate about it, so I suppose everyone has their own experience, but there ARE other approaches to getting great sound.
As to the original post, about the SB3, my FIRST impression upon hooking the thing up was that it sounded pretty good but lacked dynamics. It just seems to, that's all, and hooking it up to an external dac may/may not be an answer to that. Likewise with an upgraded power supply. I think the dac inside the SB3 is a fine bit of engineering/parts selection, and if that works for most situations, great.
