Well, I totally agree that $12,000 is a ridiculous amount to pay for
that, if all you consider is the base functionality.  My point was
precisely that such things as $5,000 amplifiers exist, when even the
vaunted ears of John Atkinson can't disitnguish between them in blind
tests.  So even if you believe there may be an audible difference
between a $500 and a $5000 amp (and I do) it's a evidently a very
subtle one, and the base functionality is identical - far more so than
the SB compared to the Sooloos.  And I won't even bring up $1000 wires.

So I think any audiophile, or at least anyone willing to consider
spending a significant amount on an amp, is on very precarious grounds
criticizing it.  If people can afford to pay a lot for beauty and sleek
design, so what?  At least they're getting something for their money,
unlike many things I could name in the audiophile world...
