I downmixed those 6-channel test files I have to 2-channel and the WAVs play back fine on the Transporter.
FLACs with no ReplayGain data play back fine as well. However when I tried to add RG, the FLAC encoder wouldn't allow me - it doesn't support RG with 96 kHz material. I added RG with foobar and it didn't work - the files play back fine for a while then suddenly get broken up and choppy. It doesn't quite sound like stuttering caused by an empty buffer and Server & Network Health shows everything's fine. Besides, if there's adequate bandwidth for WAV at 4608 kbps, there should be plenty for FLAC at ~3000 kbps. I suspect that there's an incompatibility with how foobar does RG for 96 kHz material. I'll file a bug, but since the FLAC encoder doesn't support it to begin with, I'm not sure. I haven't tried adding it using metaflac. Next is a comparison to 16 bit, 44.1 kHz material. I have the equivalents of both test files. However the mix is fairly different for both - there's a lot of extra instrument tracks at higher volumes in the former 6-channel versions. -- Mark Lanctot ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29059 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
