I'm running FLAC through a Squeezebox 2 into a pair of Paradigm
Reference 100 V.2 speakers. I don't understand why I get vastly
different sound depending on my hookup. For good sound I run the SB2
into my Yamaha R-V1105 via the digital optical output. The Yamaha
serves as a preamp and I run RCA cables from the Yamaha into my NAD
S200. If I want to wash out the bass I skip the preamp and run RCA
cables directly from my SB2 into the NAD S200. I've also tried RCA out
of the SB2 into the Yamaha with the same lousy result. I see the
transporter as my next step up because I can run balanced inputs from
the transporter directly to my NAD. However, I'm worried that after I
spend the money, I'll get the same washed out bass that the direct RCA
approach is giving me. What am I missing?
