I'll jump in here as a fellow Brit :). A conservatory (in this country
at least) is generally a glass structure attached to the house. It can
be used to house plants, but I've found that mostly it's used as an
extension of the house where you can lounge around and enjoy the light
(if you can find any in the UK...). 

One thing I'd be wary of when setting up a listening environment in a
conservatory is the acoustics - I can imagine it would be bouncing off
the glass all over the place at any reasonable volume :).
