I am not an audiophile but seem to be able to hear slight differences in sound but also seem to continually fall for the placebo effect. So here's my question.
I have a SqueezeBox currently hooked directly via the audio outs to an ATI 1502 Amp, no pre amp, no receiver. From there I am running my Axiom M-22's and a subwoofer using speaker wire run from the rear ATI terminals to the sub and speakers. It sounds great. I also have a Harmon Kardon 3480 2 channel 120 watt receiver that I USED to run my Squeezebox through before the signal arrived at the ATI. I THINK it sounds better now that I am bypassing the HK receiver but would like to know if there is any basis for that conclusion. I am sure the first suggestion would be to trust my ears but honestly I don't, and I cannot A/B the 2 set ups in such a way to really compare the sound quality. So my question is - should my SB sound better running directly through the ATI amp and bypassing the HK receiver or does the HK receiver really have no effect and I am perceiving no difference other than my pre-conceived notion that it should sound better running direct? -- LHawes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LHawes's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6244 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29859 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
