Hi all, I have just moved house and haven't got the space to set up my old system which consisted of the following: -SB3 -CIAUDIO VDA 2 DAC -Quad 11l speakers -Cyrus 6 amp
I moved my Squeezebox to the bedroom and hooked it up to a Yamaha DAB receiver and am really enjoying it there but I am really missing the sound of my main system. I was thinking of a setup using my PC as the transport with the DAC hooked up to it. Because I have no room at the moment to adequately position my speakers, I'd then use the amp to listen to my collection via headphones with the view to getting a headphone amp soon (looking at the Musical Fidelity one or the CIAUDIO version). I'd hope that this would give me a comparable sound to the above system. So, can I setup my system in the way described and use softsqueeze as the player on my PC? Other info: I have 300gb of albums ripped using flac. Running XP. I have a toslink output (or is it an input?- I have no idea) on my PC to link to the DAC. I realise that I could just buy another SB3 but I'd rather wait until I set up the main system again and get a headphone amp in the meantime- I think!?!
