I'm looking to get a pair of headphones, and the sr60 and 80 seem to get great reviews in the < $100 price range. Many reviews claiming they even outperform significantly more pricey models from other manufacturers.
I'll primarily be using them for home use jacked into my receiver, but they may occasionally see use with my iRiver portable. My receiver isn't anything fancy it's a Sony STR-DE875. My normal "room" speakers are Cambridge Sound Works model 6's, and a CSW Base Cube 10. When listening to 5.1 source material, the center channel is a CSW "Center Stage", and the surrounds are a couple of CSW New Ensemble satellites. (I used to live a few blocks from the CSW outlet store, and got all this stuff inexpensively as "B" stock) To my ears, this rig sounds 'pretty nice' in my room, but I've never really had much opportunity to compare with some of the fancier systems I read about in this forum. (Probably shouldn't either, or I'll likely catch upgrade-itis and put my marriage and future financial stability in dutch. ...end up living in a cardboard box keeping warm by the waste heat of thousands of dollars of audio gear.) Anyway ... that sets the stage for my current listening environment, as well as my 'audio expectations'. Would you expect that I'd be happy with the SR60's or are the SR80's enough "extra good" to be worth the extra $30? Also, is there some other hidden gem in the same price range from another manufacturer that I should be considering? -- jeffluckett ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jeffluckett's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=30865 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
