I was not relying on "web wisdom", merely pointing you to that as a
convenient source of reference material.

I'm not particularly interested in a pissing contest, but I have degree
in Electroacoustics [1] and really *do* know what I'm talking about. In
fact, I have personally made recordings using the ORTF stereo microphone
technique [2] that have a massive and very realistic sound stage. It's
nothing particularly clever and is a psychoacoustic effect.

Here's an idea for you: try listening to a recording on headphones. Does
it sound only as wide as your head? Of course not. Do sounds appear to
come from outside the headphones? Of course they do.

Please don't tell me what I am hearing - I *know* what I'm hearing, and
it ain't reflections. Period.

Much love,

R.

PS. I wonder, is it a coincidence that our good friend "highdudgeon" has
gone away and our new friend "lafayette" has turned up at approximately
the same time. Neither have filled in their profiles so we'll never
know. Or will we ...?
