50 feet is nothing, it will be fine. runs of a few hundred feet are done all the time. I assume you really got a 50' patch cable, with terminations on each end. Patch cables are made of stranded wire (in wall cable is solid) so they are more flexible. Just don't let the kids play jump rope with the cable, or worse, tie it up in knots. Pat p.s.
