Tom, can you expound on how it's an eye opener?

I'm interested in the question of what the ultimate goal of an audio
system should be.  Here are some options:

1) at least while in your listening position, hear what you would have
heard had you been sitting in the front row (or wherever) at the live
performance.

2) have the audio system reproduce sound which is indistinguishable
from having the musicians perform in your living room.  That includes
being able to move around the room.

3) reproduce something better(?) or different than you would hear even
attending a live performance, for example having the musicians all
around you, or sitting inside the piano or something.

4) other options?  something between 1) and 2)?

I think none of these, except possibly 1), are possible with two
speakers.  And for 1) room correction is essential, but for 2) it's
probably undesireable, which might be what adam was getting at.  

Personally I lean towards 2), but I don't have a fully formed opinion
on it.  Any comments?
