FWIW, when I ripped my collection I took this approach, using EAC and MAREO to encode to both FLAC and MP3. It worked, but if I had to do it over again I would have just encoded to FLAC and then run a batch script to transcode to MP3. Here is my reasoning: Encoding to the second (lossy) format takes time. When I am ripping, I do not want to have to wait any longer than necessary to pop in the next CD. A batch script, on the other hand, can transcode to the lossy format while I am doing other things. After I had encoded everything in both formats, I found many tags that I wanted to change or fix. When this affected the artist or album name it required renaming of files and directories. I do not want to have to change all of this twice. With a batch script I can make changes to the FLAC and have the script carry them over to the MP3s. Just something to consider.... -- jeffmeh ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jeffmeh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3986 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32425 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
