It seems like only about half the people I ask can hear it. At one
point I started wondering if there was something wrong w/ me (E.g.
tinninitus/flashbacks), so searched and read it was a flyback converter
that's likely responsible.

The three 'quiet' PSU's I've tried all had one large fan, but the main
audible noise is a 17?-20kHz whine. I'm guessing it's probably from
some kind of converter in those as well. I've noticed on the one
installed now, putting pressure on the back plate of the PS or grasping
my hand around it from inside the case, the noise seems to go away until
released.
