I am creating this new thread to seperate out the issues on how to get the Linn studio masters to work on the Tp & SB3.
The Tp supports 24b @ 44.1 & 96 KHz. The SB3 supports 24b at just 44.1 KHz. I wrote to Linn Records to ask about their encodings and formats and how to best get things running. They already (!) answered the first part of the question (encodings) and said they would write me back on the second half of my questions. A *very* responsive group there... I hope they don't mind me quoting them, but here is their response on encodings: > Thanks for your email - we have been doing some experimentation in the > office too, which we will be happy to share with you. All CD quality > files are 44.1/16 bit. The Studio Masters vary a bit. We have included > the exact details for each titles in the Notes and Information section > on the album pages. Basically, the Barb Jungr albums are 44.1kHz / 24 > bit, the Fitzwilliam Quartet album is 48 kHz / 24 bit and the other > classical albums are all 88.2 / 24 bit. We use 88.2 because this is > what sounds best when we down sample to CD. I asked about up/down sampling, which I hope to hear back on shortly. However, their answer pretty clearly shows why 88.2: its twice the CD rate and thus easy to downsample... If you have known ways to get these to work on the Tp, and on the SB3, please post in this thread. -- Eric Carroll Transporter-Bryston 3B SST-Paradigm Reference Studio 60 v.4 SB3-Rotel RB890-B&W Matrix 805 SB3-Pioneer VSX-49TXi-Mirage OM7+C2+R2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eric Carroll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9293 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32951 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
