Hi Mudlark - nice system. I too didn't give give details the last time this question was asked because they seemed to be looking for cheaper DACs. I can certainly second your suggestion of the DAC-X. For quite a long time, I had my SB2, Sonos ZP80, Cyrus CD8+PSX-R & Apple Airport Expres feed into a DAC-X which in turn fed into a Cyrus 8 Integrated amp + PSX-R power supply which was driving Dynaudio Audience 52SE speakers. This setup provided me with many hours of enjoyment, and of all these input sources - the SB2 has been the primary one. A few months ago I replaced the DAC-X and Integrated 8 amp with a TacT S2150 XDM all digital amp with room correction. This should not reflect negatively on the Cyrus gear - its just that I wanted to experience the benefits of room correcction. But it would be important to point out that I felt that the TacT S2150 XDM provides as good if not better sound than the Cyrus DAC-X + Cyrus 8 Integrated + PSX-R combo with a sligtly lower total price. I like the Cyrus gear too much to get rid of though. I am planning to get some B&W 805s speakers for the TacT, and return the Dynaudios to the Cyrus setup and move it to another room. Ofcourse this provides an opportunity to get another SB3 or Sonos ZP80 or maybe even a Transporter !! A couple of quick questions - slightly OT 1) Do you find that the PSX-R improves the quality of the DAC-X? I have 2 PSX-R units, but 3 pieces of Cyrus gear that can be used with the power supplies. I felt the most audible benefit could be obtained while connecting the PSX-Rs to the CD player and Amp, but couldn't recognize any appreciable benefit when a PSX-R was connected to the DAC. 2) Did your DAC-X come with a remote control to switch digital sources? If not, what do you use as a remote control? I know the RC5 codes are provided in the manual, but I've never figured how to use them.
