What I was trying to get at is that small private companies that don't have shareholders and/or venture capitalists to please tend to concentrate on making a genuinely good product at a fair price, rather than just trying to make the biggest profit possible. And it strikes me that people who don't actually need the money might be even less driven by the bottom line.
